I'm having this problem on a new mythtv installation with Kubuntu Edgy.

I'm running a 2.6.17 kernel with 0.7.0 ivtv modules and this is all in 32-bit on a 64-bit platform. The system was installed using the most recent packages available, so I don't think I've compiled anything myself. Also, I'm using a hauppage pvr150, nvidia 5200, and the motherboard is a Gigabyte k8ns ultra 939 with nvidia nforce3 bridges.

I'm only bringing up nforce3, because I had problems with this motherboard and an nvidia 6800 in windows and tracked it down to a nforce3 problem, but that was also 1-2 years ago. I solved that with a new motherboard, but I was hoping to solve this problem without switching boards.

Does anyone have these patches?
http://www.xs4all.nl/~hverkuil/ivtv-dma.0.4.diff
http://www.xs4all.nl/~hverkuil/ivtv-dma.0.6.diff

The links seem to be broken.
Or, should I try installing from CVS or just from the latest source?

I was also wondering if latency issues have anything to do with these problems ( http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/index.php/PCI_Latency ). My current board doesn't allow me to set timings in the BIOS.

Let me know. I just 'upgraded' my system to use GCC4.1 and recompiled everything. I have not applied the patch yet because I think I'm just going to wait for the new version, so I still have some of the DMA errors. It may be a little more stable with GCC4.1, but it's always hard to tell. I think Hans Verkuil uses GCC4.1 when developing IVTV (Not positive on that).

I recently discovered that the hard drive i was recording them to..brand new 400 gig..is half-broken...and may be the cause of this fix not entirely working for me..once i get the new one i'll reply again with how it is.

The patch seems to make the problem better..but i just tried to record a 4 hour marathon of stargate with commercial flagging during recording and regular comp use during recording..and 15 minutes into the 3rd hour it conked out.
